Paul Hobbs Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a refined Californian red wine from Sonoma County's renowned Russian River Valley appellation, sold in a 750ML bottle. The Russian River Valley lies between the Russian River and the Mayacamas Mountains, where coastal breezes funneled through the Petaluma Gap deliver cool maritime fog each morning, balanced by warm afternoon sunshine. These conditions, combined with distinctive soils, create an ideal environment for elegant Pinot Noir.
The wine is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that are hand-sorted while still cold from the field. A percentage of whole cluster inclusion is used, followed by a 5-day cold soak and 15-day maceration in small, open-top stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Gentle punchdowns and spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrel are followed by aging in a selection of new and neutral French oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its natural character and terroir expression.
Violet in hue, the wine opens with aromas of pomegranate, dark cherry, and black tea. The voluptuous texture reveals layered notes of boysenberry, bergamot, and hints of sage, with flawlessly integrated acid and fine-grained tannins accented by a red clay minerality. The result is a refined and graceful wine with lively acidity and a long finish. Alcohol is approximately 14.1% by volume.
