Kirkland Signature Fresh Wild Copper River Sockeye Salmon Fillet is sustainably wild-caught from Alaska's legendary Copper River and sold fresh by the pound. Also known as Red salmon, sockeye is the most abundant species in the Copper River Delta and is prized for its naturally deep red flesh, bold rich flavor, and firm texture that holds up beautifully to grilling, roasting, baking, or pan-searing.
The Copper River's exceptional geography — gaining an average elevation of 12 feet per mile over a nearly 300-mile journey — compels these fish to build up substantial fat reserves before their migration. The result is salmon extraordinarily high in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and natural oils, giving it a luscious, moist quality that sets it apart from farmed or other wild varieties. Copper River Sockeye runs seasonally from May through July, making this a highly sought-after, limited-availability product.
Each fillet is skin-on and cut fresh to order at the warehouse. Copper River salmon is never farmed and carries no artificial additives or preservatives. The season's first haul is eagerly anticipated by seafood lovers nationwide, and Costco is one of the few retailers to offer it at warehouse pricing.
