5 Gallon Hydrangea Assorted

Assorted hydrangea flowering shrub in a 5-gallon nursery container, typically 14-16 inches tall at time of purchase. Features hot pink or blue flowers that bloom from early summer to early fall, with bloom color depending on soil pH (acidic soil produces blue flowers, less acidic soil produces pink). Blooms on both old and new wood for extended flowering season. The green foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the vibrant blooms, which are excellent for cutting.

This deciduous shrub prefers part shade and evenly moist well-draining soil. Mature plants typically reach 3-5 feet in height and width. Plant features include disease resistance and low maintenance requirements with occasional upkeep needed. Prune in late winter after extreme cold has passed. Recommended for accent planting, mass planting, hedges and screening, general garden use, and container planting.

Hydrangeas require regular watering and fertilization, with the name derived from the Greek "hudro" (water) and "angeion" (vessel), reflecting their moisture needs. Apply a 2 to 3 inch layer of organic mulch to help soil retain moisture, regulate root temperature, and gradually improve soil quality. For bigleaf hydrangeas, apply several light fertilizer applications in March, May, and June for best results.
