Castello Banfi Rosso di Montalcino is a prestigious Italian red wine produced in the Montalcino zone of Tuscany, carrying DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) designation. Crafted from 100% select Sangiovese clones, this wine represents one of Italy's most celebrated appellations and the younger sibling of the legendary Brunello di Montalcino.
Banfi's pioneering viticultural research identified a handful of elite clones from several hundred Sangiovese varieties. These clones were officially registered and shared with all producers in the region, contributing significantly to Rosso di Montalcino's worldwide rise to fame. Each bottle is aged a minimum of 6 months in French oak barriques, yielding a complex wine with firm yet supple tannins, vibrant acidity, and excellent balance.
The wine opens with aromas of plum, blueberry, black cherry, violets, vanilla, and subtle spice. On the palate, tart black cherry and ripe red berries are complemented by elegant dried herbs, cedar, and licorice, all wrapped in a smooth, luscious texture. Dry, dusty tannins carry the wine into a long and persistent finish. Alcohol: 14.0% by volume. 750ml bottle.
