Whole fresh jackfruit, sold individually, sourced from tropical growing regions. Jackfruit is the world's largest tree fruit, typically weighing between 30 and 80 pounds, with a distinctive spiky green-to-yellow exterior and golden, fibrous flesh inside.

Ripe jackfruit delivers a sweet, tropical flavor reminiscent of a blend of apple, pineapple, mango, and banana, making it excellent for fresh eating, desserts, smoothies, and fruit salads. Unripe (young green) jackfruit has a mild, neutral taste and a meaty, shredded texture that has made it a popular plant-based substitute for pulled pork, chicken, or other proteins in savory dishes such as tacos, BBQ sandwiches, curries, and stews. The seeds are also edible and can be boiled or roasted as a nutritious snack.

To prepare, coat your knife and hands lightly with oil to prevent sticking from the natural latex sap, then halve the fruit and remove the seed pods from the stringy core. Each pod can be opened to extract the seed and eaten fresh or cooked. One cup of jackfruit provides approximately 2 grams of protein along with dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and B vitamins.
