Quinta do Portal 20 Year Tawny Port is a premium aged fortified wine from Quinta do Portal, a boutique family winery situated in the Douro Valley of northern Portugal. Crafted primarily from Touriga Nacional and other indigenous Douro grape varieties, this Port has been aged in small oak barrels over two decades, slowly oxidizing to develop its characteristic pale amber color and a deeply complex aromatic profile.
On the nose, this wine offers medium-intensity aromas of dried figs, dates, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, peanuts, macadamia nuts, dried red cherries, dried cranberry, cedar, clove, and nutmeg. On the palate it is medium sweet with lively acidity and high alcohol, delivering a full-bodied experience with layered flavors of red cherry, chocolate, caramel, dried cranberry, almond, macadamia nut, vanilla, and cream. The finish is long and elegant, with the predominant character being chocolate-covered cherries with vanilla and cream. Winemaker notes describe it as pale amber with great aromas, character, and length of flavor with an excellent finish.
This Port has earned 90 points from Wine Spectator, praised for its freshness with cherry, raisin, cinnamon, and caramel flavors and a gliding, pistachio-tinged finish. Robert Parker awarded it 93 points, highlighting its rich combination of dried fruit and cigar aromas. The wine has been featured in "1001 Wines You Must Try Before You Die." Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 55–65°F as a contemplative sipping port, or paired with chocolate-forward desserts such as black forest cake, raspberry chocolate brownies, or a selection of aged cheeses. Available in 750 ML bottles.
