Shea Wine Cellars Estate Pinot Noir is a premium Oregon wine sourced from the renowned Shea Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA of the Willamette Valley. Founded by Dick Shea, who planted the vineyard in 1989 after leaving Wall Street, Shea Wine Cellars has been producing acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since 1996. The winery uses only about 25% of the vineyard's production for its own label, selling the rest to top producers like Bergstrom, Penner-Ash, and Ken Wright Cellars.
The vineyard sits on sedimentary soil over fractured sandstone, which imparts a powerful and well-structured character to the wine, with notes of black fruit, cola, and coffee. The wine is aged in French oak with a blend of new and neutral barrels, contributing to its pronounced raspberry-pie aroma, sage, orange zest, and a meaty palate with tart cherry, fennel, and Italian sausage notes. The acidity is zippy and the mouthfeel crisp, in a Burgundian style. ABV is approximately 13.3%.
