Mandevilla (also known as rock trumpet) is a stunning tropical flowering vine sold in a 2.2-gallon container, ready to bring vibrant color to your patio, garden, or landscape. Native to Central and South America, mandevilla produces large, showy trumpet-shaped blooms in shades of pink, red, white, or yellow from late spring through fall, attracting hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies throughout the season.
This fast-growing vine can reach 6 to 8 feet or more in a single season under optimal conditions and thrives in full to partial sun (USDA Zones 8–11). It performs best with a trellis, pergola, obelisk, or arbor for support, as its twining branches climb vigorously. In colder climates it can be grown as an annual or overwintered indoors as a houseplant once temperatures drop below 50°F.
Plant in sandy, well-draining soil amended with compost, with a soil pH between 6.6 and 7.8. Water regularly to keep soil moist but not soggy, and fertilize every two weeks with a phosphorus-rich fertilizer during the growing season to promote flowering. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins, cutting back up to one-third of the plant.
Mandevilla sap is mildly toxic to children and pets and may cause skin irritation upon contact; handle with gloves.
