Fresh pre-cut kabocha squash chunks, locally grown in Hawaii. Kabocha is a Japanese winter squash (Cucurbita maxima) prized for its dense, vibrant yellow-orange flesh that becomes finely grained and tender when cooked. It delivers a rich, sweet, buttery, and nutty flavor often compared to sweet potato, pumpkin, and chestnut.
These convenient pre-cut chunks are ready to roast, steam, sautee, bake, or add directly to soups, stews, curries, and risottos. Kabocha holds its shape well during cooking, making it ideal for tempura, gratins, or simply roasting with a drizzle of oil. When pureed, it works beautifully in soups, sauces, croquettes, and baked goods. It pairs well with garlic, sage, nutmeg, coconut milk, brown sugar, curry spices, and parmesan cheese.
Kabocha squash is a good source of vitamins A, B1, B2, and C, as well as calcium, dietary fiber, and potassium. It is naturally low in calories and sodium. Store refrigerated and use within a few days of purchase.
