Finca Museum Cigales Reserva is a 100% Tempranillo produced by Bodegas Museum, a leader in reserve-level winemaking in the Cigales Denominación de Origen (DO) of Castilla y León, Spain. The winery, part of Grupo Barón de Ley, draws fruit from century-old vineyards east of Valladolid, neighboring the renowned Ribera del Duero. The Cigales appellation benefits from a high-altitude continental climate with extreme diurnal temperature variation — hot days and cold nights — yielding concentrated, aromatic red wines with vibrant natural acidity.
This Reserva is made from Tempranillo vines averaging 70 years of age, which contribute deep concentration and complexity at naturally low yields. The wine is aged 24 months in new French oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 12 months of additional bottle aging before release, surpassing the minimum requirements of Spain's Reserva classification. It carries 14% ABV in a standard 750 ML format.
The wine pours a deep ruby-red color. On the nose it offers dark fruit aromas of blackberries, black currants, and dark cherries alongside red berries, violets, licorice, and balsamic notes, with layers of savory oak, toast, and subtle spice. On the palate it is wide and textural, showing silky round tannins, good freshness, and flavors of ripe berries, roasted hazelnuts, mineral notes, and a long, spiced finish. The wine has earned 90-point scores from both James Suckling and Wine Spectator across multiple vintages and gold medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Berlin Wine Trophy.
This wine pairs well with roasted and grilled red meats, lamb, Spanish charcuterie and cured meats, hard aged cheeses, and hearty stews or braised dishes.
