Fontanafredda Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba DOCG is a benchmark Piedmontese red wine from one of the region's most historic estates, founded in 1878. Produced entirely from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Serralunga d'Alba commune — renowned for its compact Helvetian soils that yield Barolos of exceptional structure and longevity — this wine carries the DOCG designation, Italy's highest quality classification for wine.
The Serralunga d'Alba appellation produces some of Barolo's most powerful and age-worthy expressions. Expect intense aromas of dried cherry, rose petal, tar, and tobacco, with firm, grippy tannins and lively acidity. The palate is full-bodied with long, persistent finish and balsamic undertones characteristic of this commune. The wine benefits from additional cellaring but is approachable with food pairings such as braised meats, aged cheeses, and truffled dishes.
This 1-liter format is larger than the standard 750ml bottle and is bottled at the cellars of Fontanafredda S.r.l. in Serralunga d'Alba, Italy. Imported by Palm Bay International. Alcohol: 14% by volume.
