J. Bookwalter Protagonist Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium red wine from Columbia Valley, Washington State, crafted by J. Bookwalter Winery. The 2020 vintage is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Syrah, and 5% Petit Verdot, sourced primarily from Connor Lee Vineyard along with Dionysus and Elephant Mountain Vineyards.

The wine is aged for 20 months in 60% new French oak, resulting in a rich, layered profile with aromas of dark fruits, graphite, cream, coffee, cocoa, and rose petals. On the palate it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, crisp acidity, and flavors of black cherry, black tea, blueberry tart, earthen oregano, and demerara sugar. The finish is long, with lingering fruit, toasty oak, and mocha. Alcohol content is 14.8%.
