J. Lohr Estates Falcon's Perch Pinot Noir is an approachable, cool-climate red wine crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from select vineyards within and surrounding the Arroyo Seco and Santa Lucia Highlands appellations of Monterey County, California. The wine is named for the falcon that made its home in a lone pine tree among the vines, naturally protecting the grapes from pests while preserving the vineyard ecosystem.

The 2022 vintage showcases bright berry, watermelon, and spicy strawberry aromas characteristic of Monterey County Pinot Noir, with clove and sagebrush on the nose. The palate offers delicate tannins with flavors of dried cherry, black tea, and umami on the finish. Fermentation takes place in open-top tanks with a short skin contact period; approximately 15% of the fruit undergoes whole cluster fermentation to accentuate the spicy, strawberry notes. The wine is matured with 90% in stainless steel tanks on light lees with bâtonnage, and 10% in 2nd and 3rd-fill French oak barrels to preserve freshness and varietal character.
