A Sonoma County classic from Seghesio Family Vineyards, who have been growing Zinfandel since 1895 across five generations. This wine is crafted from a blend of 88% Zinfandel, 5% Petite Sirah, 1% Alicante Bouschet, and 6% mixed reds sourced from premier vineyards across Sonoma County including Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. About 55% of the vineyards are estate owned.
The wine begins with dark fruit aromas including raisin and prune notes plus vanilla, licorice, black pepper, black tea, anise, and other spices. Tasting reveals smooth, juicy, and slightly brambly flavors with oaky spice, cola, chocolate, and dusty tannins. It ends with a very long, dry, and slightly grippy finish. The wine is aged for 10 months in barrel with 7% new American oak and 83% in neutral French and American oak, with 1.4 g/L of residual sugar.
Consistently rated 91-93 points by wine critics, this crowd-pleasing Zinfandel is vibrant, balanced, and bold. It has an SRP of $26 but is typically available at Costco for around $16-$19. 15.0% alcohol.
