Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino is a prestigious Tuscan red wine crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello) grapes grown at high altitudes in the northwest of Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. The estate has cultivated both new and old vineyards in harmony with nature for over 30 years, producing wines that reflect the distinctive terroir of this celebrated appellation.
The grapes are hand-harvested and selected on a sorting table before and after destemming. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with an initial cold maceration phase below 20°C for 15–20 hours, followed by up to 20 days of extended maceration at controlled temperatures. The wine then matures in oak barrels for approximately 24 months before bottle aging in Castello Romitorio's temperature-controlled cellars until release. The result is a full-bodied red with intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violet, and mineral notes, supported by firm yet refined tannins and a long, resonant finish. The 2019 vintage received 97 points from Wine Spectator and was ranked #28 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2024.
