Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay is an unoaked white wine from California's Central Coast, crafted by one of the region's most storied estates. Chamisal Vineyards holds the distinction of being the first vineyard planted in the Edna Valley AVA in 1973, located just outside San Luis Obispo. The winery is a specialist in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture — including a shift toward biodynamic farming practices begun in 2020.
The "Stainless" designation means this Chardonnay is entirely fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, with no oak influence. This winemaking choice preserves the grape's natural vibrancy and fresh fruit character. On the nose, expect aromas of lime zest, green apple, ripe pear, and passionfruit with a light floral lift. The palate is bright and refreshing with lemon curd, apple, and subtle tropical fruit, supported by lively acidity and a clean, elegant finish. ABV is 13.5%.
This wine pairs well with seafood, roasted chicken, creamy pasta dishes, fresh salads, and lighter preparations that benefit from a crisp, food-friendly white. Chamisal Vineyards is part of the Crimson Wine Group and farms an 82-acre estate vineyard that reflects the coastal terroir of the Central Coast.
