Boudin Sourdough Bread Bowls are authentic San Francisco sourdough rounds perfect for serving soup, chowder, or salads. These fresh-baked bread bowls are made using the original mother dough starter that Boudin Bakery has used since 1849, containing the unique wild yeast that gives the bread its signature tangy flavor and distinctive chewy texture.
Each package contains four 8-ounce bread bowls made with just four simple ingredients: unbleached flour, pure water, salt, and a piece of the original mother dough. The bread features Boudin's trademark golden crunchy crust that gives way to a soft, chewy center. These versatile bread bowls can be hollowed out and filled with your favorite soups or stews, making them ideal for serving classic San Francisco-style clam chowder or any hearty soup. The bread bowls stay fresh at room temperature for 2-3 days when kept away from heat and humidity, or can be frozen for up to 6 months.
To serve, slice the top half-inch off each bread bowl, hollow out the inside, and place in a 375°F preheated oven for approximately 5 minutes before filling with heated soup. The entire bread bowl is edible, providing both a flavorful vessel and a delicious complement to your meal.
