Testarossa's Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay is a 100% Chardonnay sourced from Certified Sustainable vineyards throughout the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County, Central Coast, California. The appellation sits in close proximity to Monterey Bay, creating one of California's coolest wine-growing climates with an exceptionally long growing season that allows grapes to ripen slowly and develop full flavor complexity on the vine.
Grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented in French oak under the direction of winemaker Bill Brosseau at Testarossa's historic Novitiate Winery in Los Gatos, California. The wine is aged approximately 11 to 12 months in French oak barrels with a portion of new oak, contributing richness and subtle structure without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a full-bodied, Burgundian-inspired Chardonnay with an alcohol content around 14.2%.
Tasting notes across multiple vintages highlight aromas of tropical fruit, stone fruit, mango, guava, apple, and butterscotch, with a creamy texture, balanced acidity, and a long, concentrated finish. The wine consistently earns scores of 90 to 96 points from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Vinous, James Suckling, and The SOMM Journal. Each 750ml bottle is ready to drink now and can be cellared for several years from the vintage.
