Col d'Orcia Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a prestigious Italian red wine from the Montalcino appellation in Tuscany, made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso (known locally as Brunello). Col d'Orcia is one of the original and most celebrated estates in Montalcino, and today is among the largest certified organic vineyards in Tuscany, with vineyards overlooking the Orcia river valley.
As a traditional producer, Col d'Orcia ages the Brunello for a full three years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a minimum of one year of bottle aging before release. This extended aging approach honors the classic style of Brunello, allowing the wine to develop its signature depth, complexity, and extraordinary longevity. The 2019 vintage received a 94-point score from Wine Spectator.
The wine is full-bodied and resonant, with aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry, rose, earth, and mineral, evolving into notes of plum, mocha, and tobacco with time. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, making this wine an excellent candidate for both near-term enjoyment and long-term cellaring. Serve at 60–65°F with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or hearty pasta dishes.
