Duckhorn Vineyards Three Palms Merlot is one of California's most celebrated single-vineyard wines, produced from the iconic Three Palms Vineyard in Napa Valley since the winery's inaugural vintage in 1978. Named for three distinctive palm trees on the property, the vineyard has earned Grand Cru-like status through decades of critical acclaim — most notably when the 2014 vintage was named Wine Spectator's #1 Wine of the Year. Costco offers this wine as a case of six 750ml bottles.
The wine is composed of 100% estate fruit: 92% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Cabernet Franc, and is aged for 18 months in 100% French oak (75% new, 25% neutral). It carries 14.8% alcohol with an acidity of 0.58 g/100ml and a pH of 3.75. Recent vintages have earned 94 points from both Wine Spectator and James Suckling.
On the nose, the wine opens with vibrant Bing cherry and rose petal aromas, giving way to layers of cocoa and slate. On the palate, lush plum and fig take center stage, framed by Three Palms Vineyard's signature dusty tannins and earthy minerality — a hallmark of the vineyard's warm days and rocky, well-drained soils.
