Far Niente Chardonnay is an iconic Napa Valley white wine from one of California's most prestigious wineries, established in 1979. The name "Far Niente" means "without a care" in Italian, reflecting the winery's philosophy of crafting wines meant to be savored and enjoyed.

This estate Chardonnay is sourced from premium vineyards in the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley, where cool breezes and well-drained soils contribute to vibrant acidity and rich flavors. The wine is richly aromatic with bright notes of citrus, melon, honeydew, nectarine, and pear. The palate offers a silky entry with flavors of lemon/lime zest, lemon verbena, and hints of white floral notes, building to a long finish with lingering citrus. Crisp minerality and juicy acidity lift the generous fruit and provide a framework for graceful aging.

The winemaking follows Burgundian techniques with hand-harvested grapes picked in the cool morning hours to preserve natural acidity. The fruit is whole-cluster pressed and undergoes barrel fermentation in French oak barrels (89% barrel, 11% tank) with no malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged sur lie in French oak barrels with medium toast (45% new, 55% once used). Under the guidance of winemaker Nicole Marchesi, Far Niente continues its tradition of producing Chardonnay that balances richness with elegance.
