Excedrin Migraine is the first non-prescription medicine approved by the FDA to treat migraine symptoms. This doctor-recommended OTC migraine treatment features a specialized triple action formula that combines acetaminophen, aspirin, and therapeutically active caffeine to provide effective migraine relief. For some patients, it starts to relieve migraine pain in as little as 30 minutes with just one dose. The medication works in three ways: blocks pain signals, elevates pain threshold, and enhances the pain-relieving effect. It relieves migraine pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. In clinical studies, patients with moderate to severe migraines experienced effective relief.
Each caplet contains acetaminophen 250 mg (pain reliever), aspirin 250 mg NSAID (pain reliever), and caffeine 65 mg (pain reliever aid). Adults should take 2 caplets with a glass of water, not exceeding 2 caplets in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor. The product is FSA eligible. Inactive ingredients include benzoic acid, carnauba wax, FD&C blue #1, hydroxypropylcellulose, hypromellose, light mineral oil, microcrystalline cellulose, polysorbate 20, povidone, propylene glycol, simethicone emulsion, sorbitan monolaurate, stearic acid, and titanium dioxide.
Important warnings include liver damage risk from acetaminophen if taking more than directed or with alcohol, stomach bleeding risk from NSAID especially for those over 60 or with history of ulcers, and caffeine warning about limiting other caffeine sources. Children and teenagers recovering from chicken pox or flu-like symptoms should not use this product due to Reye's syndrome risk. Distributed by GSK Consumer Healthcare, Warren, NJ 07059.
