Feudi di San Gregorio Serpico is the flagship red wine from Feudi di San Gregorio, a prestigious estate established in 1986 in Sorbo Serpico, a small village in the rugged Irpinia highlands of Campania, southern Italy. Named after the very village that gave birth to the winery, Serpico is crafted from 100% Aglianico grapes sourced from the estate's historic Dal Re vineyard, where ancient vines yield deeply concentrated, complex fruit. This wine stands as one of Campania's most celebrated expressions of the Aglianico variety.
Serpico spends 18 months aging in French oak barriques, developing remarkable depth and structure. The wine presents an intense and savory bouquet of leather, cigars, soil, and pepper, with lively undertones of oregano, tomatoes, and cherries. On the palate, bright cherry and raspberry flavors interweave with dark fruit, espresso bean, tobacco, and dark chocolate, all framed by firm yet refined tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, mineral, and balsamic, with lingering notes of spice and mentholated herbs.
Serpico has earned consistent critical acclaim across multiple vintages, including 94 points from Wine Enthusiast, 93 points from Wine Spectator and Vinous Media, and 92 points from James Suckling. The wine is capable of extended cellaring — drinking now through the early 2030s for current vintages — and pairs beautifully with roasted meats, game, aged cheeses, and hearty braised dishes.
