Viña San Pedro's 1865 Cabernet Sauvignon is a benchmark Chilean red named for the year the winery was founded. Sourced from selected vineyards in the Maipo Valley — one of Chile's most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon appellations — the grapes are grown in poor, gravelly soils at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, a terroir that concentrates flavors and produces wines of depth and character.
The wine presents intense aromas of ripe red and dark fruit including cherries, plums, blueberries, and cassis, layered with notes of mint, coffee bean, chocolate, mocha, and cedar. On the palate it is dense and concentrated with a silky structure and textured, mature tannins that provide excellent aging potential. The 2023 vintage earned a score of 92 points from Tim Atkin MW (Chile Special Report 2025), with a recommended drink window of 2027–2032.
Bottled at 14.5% ABV with a residual sugar content of 3 g/L, this is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roasted lamb, hard aged cheeses, and hearty stews.
