Marco Felluga Mongris Pinot Grigio is a Collio DOC white wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. The name "Mongris" combines "monovitigno" (single-varietal) and "gris," meaning "gray" in the Friulian dialect, a nod to the Pinot Grigio grape. The grapes are sourced from the villages of Farra d'Isonzo, San Floriano, and Cormòns, grown on Eocene-era hillside soils of sandstone and limestone-clay marl.
All grapes are hand-picked and undergo cold maceration before a gentle pressing. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh, fruity aromatics. The wine refines for six months on the lees before bottling. It presents a golden yellow color with slight coppery nuances, an intense bouquet of acacia flowers, broom, apple, and pear, and a full-bodied, structured palate with elegant fruit and a long, persistent finish. Approximately 13.5% ABV.
This wine pairs well as an aperitif or alongside fish dishes, seafood, and fresh cheeses. It has received scores up to 96/100 from major wine publications.
