Robert Craig Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a critically acclaimed Napa Valley red wine sourced from two estate parcels at the summit of Howell Mountain, at elevations of 2,100 to 2,300 feet. The soils range from iron-rich red volcanic to white volcanic ash and tufa, contributing to the wine's distinctive mineral character and structured profile.

The blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Malbec and Petit Verdot. After harvest, the wine is aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its natural complexity. The winemaking is led by Keith Emerson, recognized for his work at Vineyard 29.

Tasting notes describe the wine as bright and incisive, with aromas of inky red and purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender, menthol, spice, and crushed rocks. On the palate, it delivers mountain blueberry and mulberry fruit with mineral underpinnings, chocolaty tannins, and a long, muscular finish. The wine has earned scores of 97 points from Vinous, 96 points from Decanter, and 94 points from Jeb Dunnuck. It is an excellent pairing with beef and venison.
