Prati by Louis M. Martini is a Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from grapes sourced across several of Sonoma's most prestigious appellations, including Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley. The Prati name, meaning "meadow" in Italian, is a tribute to the Italian immigrant roots of the Louis Martini winery and the pastoral terrain of its Sonoma vineyards, merging a rich California winemaking heritage with a modern label.
The wine is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah, and 8% other red varieties. The grapes were gently destemmed and fermented with three pump-overs per day, remaining on skins for 8โ10 days to extract maximum color and flavor. The wine was then aged for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. It has an alcohol content of 13.9%, titratable acidity of 5.5 g/L, residual sugar of 3.1 g/L, and a pH of 3.86.
On the nose, the wine opens with lively aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry with hints of vanilla. The palate delivers layers of blackberry jam, black cherry, and toasted vanilla, complemented by soft notes of cedar and mocha. Velvety, integrated tannins give the wine a rich, smooth, and full-bodied mouthfeel with a lingering finish. Rated 92 points by James Suckling and 90 points each by Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. Named a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Best Buy of 2024, ranking #35. Approximately 40,000 cases produced.
