Breca Old Vines Garnacha is the flagship cuvée from Bodegas Breca, a Spanish winery founded in 2012 and imported by Jorge Ordóñez Selections. This bold red wine is made from 100% Garnacha de Aragón, the oldest clone of Garnacha (Grenache) in the world, first cultivated in northeastern Spain and spread across the Mediterranean by the Crown of Aragón.

The grapes are sourced from multiple old mountain vineyards planted between 1940 and 1960 in the Sierra de Pardos and Sierra de Peña Blanca within D.O. Calatayud. The vines are traditionally dry farmed, practicing organic, and gobelet trained in low-density plantings without terracing. The soils are rocky slate and quartz dating back to the Cambrian and Silurian periods, with slate intermixed with iron-rich clay or calcareous clay depending on altitude.

Hand-harvested bunches are destemmed and whole berries macerate in open-top stainless steel vats. Fermentation begins with a pied de cuve, and maceration lasts no longer than eight days with a gentle eight-hour press in a vertical basket press. The wine ages for 16 months in French oak puncheons (500L) and demi-muids (600L) dating back to 2010. The continental Mediterranean climate of Calatayud, with very cold winters, hot summers, and drastic diurnal temperature shifts, contributes to the wine's concentrated character. Recent vintages have earned 92 points from Guía Peñín and 91 points from James Suckling.
