This live Phalaenopsis orchid arrives in a 5-inch pot, grown and hand-selected for vibrant, long-lasting blooms. Phalaenopsis orchids, also known as moth orchids, are among the most popular and easy-care houseplants, prized for elegant flowers available in a wide range of colors including white, pink, purple, and specialty hues. Each plant makes a beautiful home accent or a thoughtful gift for any occasion.
Orchids thrive in bright, indirect light and prefer temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. Water approximately once per week with about 3 oz of water, allowing the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering—orchids do not like soggy roots. Transparent grow pots allow you to check root color: green roots indicate adequate moisture, while light grey or shriveled roots signal it is time to water. Orchids do not require frequent fertilizing, though a diluted orchid fertilizer can be applied occasionally during the growing season. Bloom life is typically 6 to 8 weeks once all flowers are fully open.
After blooms fall, cut the stem just above a node to encourage reblooming, or cut near the base and allow the plant to rest for several months in warm, bright conditions. Avoid placing your orchid on windowsills with direct sun, hot cars, or near cold drafts. To repot, choose a pot only 1 to 2 inches larger than the current one and use orchid bark substrate.
