Marimar Estate Mas Cavalls Pinot Noir is a premium Sonoma Coast wine from the Doña Margarita Vineyard, a 20-acre certified sustainable site located on the Bohemian Highway between Freestone and Occidental. The vineyard benefits from cool Pacific Ocean breezes and drifting fog just six miles away, creating ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. The name "Mas Cavalls" is Catalan for Horse Farm, referencing the estate's event center at a former horse barn below the vineyard.
This wine offers a deep, engaging earthy nose of forest floor and porcini mushrooms, with notes of orange peel and black fruits like dark cherries and wild berries. The palate is fruit forward, chewy, and savory, with flavors of black tea supported by good acidity. After minimal crushing, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeast and aged in French oak barrels (33% new) from renowned cooperages including Remond, Marchive, and Mercurey. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. It will improve with age and continue to develop for 10 to 15 years. Best served at cellar temperature between 58 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Sold in cases of 12 bottles at 750 mL each.
