Nexium 24HR is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) acid reducer containing Esomeprazole 20 mg in delayed-release capsules. This package includes three 14-day courses of treatment (42 capsules total) designed to provide all-day, all-night protection from frequent heartburn occurring two or more days a week.

Each delayed-release capsule stops stomach acid production at its source, blocking heartburn before it starts. The medication is intended for adults 18 years and older who experience frequent heartburn. Take one capsule with a glass of water before eating in the morning, every day for 14 days. The product may take 1 to 4 days for full effect. After completing a 14-day course, you may repeat the treatment every 4 months if heartburn returns.

Do not use if you are allergic to esomeprazole or have trouble or pain swallowing food, vomiting with blood or bloody stools, heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating or dizziness, or chest pain. Ask a doctor before use if you have had heartburn over 3 months, unexplained weight loss, nausea or vomiting, or stomach pain. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking prescription anticoagulant, antifungal, or anti-yeast medicines, digoxin, diazepam, tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil, prescription antiretrovirals, or methotrexate. Do not take for more than 14 days or more often than every 4 months unless directed by your doctor.

Inactive ingredients include corn starch, D&C red no. 28, FD&C blue no. 1, FD&C red no. 40, ferric oxide, gelatin, glyceryl monostearate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid copolymer, pharmaceutical ink, polysorbate 80, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide, and triethyl citrate.
