Gruet Winery's Chardonnay is a still white wine produced in New Mexico, crafted by one of the American Southwest's most celebrated wine producers. Founded in 1984 by the Gruet family from Champagne, France, the winery originally gained fame for its methode champenoise sparkling wines before expanding into still wines.
This Chardonnay from New Mexico's high-altitude vineyards — planted at elevations around 4,300 feet in the Rio Grande Valley — benefits from the region's warm days and cool nights, producing grapes with excellent natural acidity and balanced ripeness. The wine typically expresses aromas of green apple, citrus, and subtle floral notes, with a clean, refreshing palate and a crisp, dry finish. Moderate oak influence lends a touch of creaminess without masking the fruit character.
A versatile food wine, it pairs well with seafood, roasted chicken, pasta in cream sauces, and mild cheeses. The 750ml bottle is well-suited for everyday enjoyment and offers strong value relative to comparable California Chardonnays.
