Jonata's "Todos" — Spanish for "All" — is a small-production proprietary red blend crafted from the winery's 600-acre estate in Ballard Canyon, Santa Ynez Valley, California. The wine's name reflects its philosophy: nearly every grape varietal planted on the Jonata estate contributes to the blend, with Syrah consistently as the dominant variety. The estate's 80 acres of vines grow in high concentrations of Careaga sandy soils, which challenge the vines to develop deep root systems and lend distinctive character to the wine.
Jonata has been guided by the same core team since 2004, with winemaker Matt Dees and vineyard manager Ruben Solorzano combining expertise in winemaking and soil science. The estate practices polyface farming and other sustainable techniques to cultivate a healthy, diverse ecosystem.
The 2021 vintage blends 66% Syrah, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petite Sirah, 2% Merlot, and 2% miscellaneous red and white varieties, with only approximately 2,600 cases produced. The wine pours a deep purple with dark fruit aromas, abundant spice, and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and plum. A balsamic and herbal mid-palate leads to a full-bodied yet balanced, long finish. Rated 93 points by both Vinous and Jeb Dunnuck. 14.9% ABV.
