Tignanello is one of Italy's most iconic Super Tuscan wines, produced by the legendary Marchesi Antinori family from their prestigious Tenuta Tignanello estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. Sold in a six-bottle case of 750 ML bottles, this wine represents a true milestone in the history of Italian viticulture — it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in small oak barriques, the first contemporary red wine to incorporate non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc into its blend, and among the first red wines from the Chianti Classico area produced without white grapes.

The wine is crafted exclusively from grapes grown in the Tignanello vineyard — a 190-acre (77-hectare) parcel with limestone-rich calcareous and marl soils at 1,150–1,325 feet (350–400 meters) above sea level, with a southwestern exposure that benefits from hot days and cool evenings throughout the growing season. The blend consists primarily of Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Fermentation takes place in truncated conical tanks with careful maceration to preserve aromas, extract color, and develop supple, elegant tannins. The wine then ages for approximately 13 months in French oak barrels (with a small percentage of Hungarian oak), followed by an additional 12 months of bottle aging before release.

The wine is intensely ruby red with purple hues, opening with aromas of cherries, ripe black cherries, and pomegranate seeds, with delicate notes of violets, fresh balsamic hints, and elegant accents of vanilla. The palate is dense yet fresh, with supple savory tannins and a lengthy finish. Tignanello is bottled only in favorable vintages and has received scores of 98/100 from Vinous and was ranked #3 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2024 for the 2021 vintage. The iconic label was designed by Italian graphic designer Silvio Coppola in 1974.
