Château La Louvière is a prestigious red Bordeaux wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, located south of the city of Bordeaux in the Graves region of France. The estate dates back to the late 1300s and was purchased and revitalized by the renowned André Lurton family in 1965, who restored both the vineyards and the château itself — now recognized as a national architectural treasure by the French government.
The 61.5-hectare vineyard is planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, with a small proportion of Petit Verdot, grown on gravelly soils with limestone subsoil that are characteristic of the finest Pessac-Léognan terroir. The wine is aged for approximately 15 months in 50% new French oak barrels, imparting structure and complexity while preserving the estate's signature elegance. Tasting notes typically show dark cherry, licorice, and floral aromas with a medium- to full-bodied palate featuring creamy fruit, chocolate accents, and firm but polished tannins. The wine is well-suited to cellaring and pairs beautifully with roasted meats, lamb, duck, and aged cheeses.
