Château Beaumont is a respected Cru Bourgeois estate in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, France, producing classic Médoc-style red wine from its 114-hectare single-block vineyard on sand and gravel soils. The estate is under the same management as Château Beychevelle and is consistently regarded as one of the best value picks of the Médoc.
The wine is a blend typically led by Cabernet Sauvignon (around 53–65%), with Merlot (30–40%), and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with malolactic fermentation in tank, then aged for 12–14 months in French oak barrels (30% new). The wine displays a deep ruby color with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco, graphite, and fresh herbs. On the palate it is medium-bodied with supple, polished tannins, red and black fruit, and a lingering finish. Recent vintages have received scores of 91 points from Vinous Media.
Best enjoyed with 2–3 years of bottle age and at its peak between 3–10 years from the vintage. Pair with roasted lamb, beef, or aged hard cheeses.
