Feudi di San Gregorio Piano di Montevergine is a prestigious Taurasi DOCG Riserva from Campania, Italy, produced by one of southern Italy's most celebrated estates. The wine is sourced from the Piano di Montevergine vineyard in Sorbo Serpico, where 70 to 80 year old Aglianico vines grow at approximately 400 meters elevation on south-facing slopes with deep volcanic soils layered with ash, pumice, and silty sand.
After harvest, the wine undergoes fermentation followed by three weeks of maceration to extract deep color and tannin structure. It is then aged for up to 18 to 24 months in medium-toasted new French barriques, followed by an additional 12 to 24 months of bottle aging before release. The result is a powerful, age-worthy red wine with polished tannins, dark fruit, savory spice, and notes of campfire ash.
Piano di Montevergine consistently earns critical scores in the 90 to 96 point range from major wine publications and is considered one of the benchmark wines of Campania's Taurasi appellation. Contains sulphites. Sold in a case of 6 x 750ML bottles.
