Rocca delle Macìe Chianti Classico Riserva is a prestigious Italian red wine produced under the Chianti Classico DOCG designation from the estate of Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany. Made predominantly from Sangiovese grapes, this Riserva-grade wine is crafted using traditional Chianti Classico vinification methods, aged for approximately two years in large French oak barrels (35 hectoliters) and then further refined for a minimum of three months in the bottle before release.
The wine presents a ruby red color tending toward garnet with aging. On the nose it offers fragrant aromas of red berry, dried black cherry, blue flower, and chopped herb with a pleasant spicy note. The medium-bodied palate delivers flavors of dried black cherry, red currant, white pepper, and dried sage, supported by fine-grained tannins and bright acidity for a rich, well-integrated finish.
This Riserva has earned widespread critical acclaim, receiving scores of 91-93 points from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, James Suckling, and kerinokeefe.com, as well as a Mundus Vini Gold Medal and Best of Show recognition. Rocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by acclaimed Italian film producer Italo Zingarelli on six estates totaling 600 hectares across Tuscany. The winery remains family-owned and is currently led by Italo's son Sergio, his wife Daniela, and their two children.
