Viña Maitia Roto Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Valley, Chile 750ml

Viña Maitia Roto is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led red wine from the Maule Valley in Chile's Central Valley, crafted by French Basque winemaker David Marcel and his Chilean wife Loreto. The wine is a blend of approximately 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, and 3% Alicante Bouschet, sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards planted between 1980 and 2010 across roughly 25 acres of clay and granite soils at 400 feet elevation.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of plum, cassis, leather, dusty earth, and light dried rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth, soft tannins wrapping around a dark fruit core, finishing clean and fresh. Aged in concrete vats with light oak influence, the wine undergoes native fermentation and crossflow filtration, preserving its natural character. Alcohol is 13%.

This is a value-driven, food-friendly red that drinks well on its own or alongside grilled meats, pastas, and aged cheeses. Production is small at approximately 3,000 cases per year, making it a distinctive find at Costco.
