A live orchid plant sold in Costco's seasonal garden department. This is a Phalaenopsis (moth orchid) — one of the most popular and easy-care orchid varieties — presented as a garden-season item during cooler months. The "protect from freezing" label is a cold-sensitivity care instruction, indicating the plant must be kept above freezing temperatures at all times.
Phalaenopsis orchids thrive in bright, indirect light and prefer temperatures between 60–85°F. Water once a week or when the potting mix feels dry about an inch below the surface; avoid overwatering, as orchids do not tolerate soggy roots. Ensure good drainage and moderate humidity. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and windows during frost-risk months.
With proper care, blooms last two months or more, and the plant can rebloom when placed in a slightly cooler spot (around 55–60°F at night) for several weeks. Not for human or animal consumption.
