BenRiach "The Forty" is the oldest expression in the BenRiach distillery portfolio, a remarkable 40-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 43.5% ABV (87 proof). Distilled at the BenRiach Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, this expression draws inspiration from an era when peated malt from Speyside was a rarity — the distillery elected to produce limited quantities of peated spirit using peat sourced from the Scottish Highlands.

Over four decades of maturation in fine American bourbon oak barrels and port casks from the Douro Valley, this whisky develops extraordinary complexity. On the nose, aromas of honey and grapefruit give way to ripe peach and plum. The palate delivers notes of dark chocolate, strawberries, and charred oak, with the peated character from the spirit's youth mellowing into layers of ripe fruit sweetness interwoven with walnut and smooth dark chocolate. The finish is long and lingering.

BenRiach Distillery was founded in 1898 by John Duff in the heart of Speyside. After a storied history of closures and ownership changes, the distillery was acquired by Brown-Forman (producer of Jack Daniel's) in 2016. This release is a limited, collectible expression representing the pinnacle of BenRiach's aged single malts.
