The Edge - David Baldacci

The Edge is the second installment in David Baldacci's 6:20 Man thriller series, published by Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, in November 2023. The 417-page novel follows Travis Devine, a former Army special ops soldier working for an elite Homeland Security undercover team, as he investigates the murder of Jennifer Silkwell, a high-ranking CIA analyst found dead on the rocky coastline of Putnam, Maine. Her government-issued laptop and phone are missing, raising urgent national security concerns.

Devine must navigate small-town suspicion and deeply buried secrets to determine whether Silkwell was killed because of her intelligence work or something far more personal. Spanning international intrigue and rural American tension, The Edge blends military thriller action with small-town mystery. While the novel works as a standalone read, readers who have experienced The 6:20 Man will have the fullest context for the series.

The Edge has earned over 60,000 ratings on Goodreads with an average score of 4.33 out of 5 stars, cementing Baldacci's reputation as a master of the modern American thriller.
