Sierra Cantabria Finca El Bosque Rioja, Spain 750ml

Sierra Cantabria Finca El Bosque is a prestigious single-vineyard red wine from the Rioja region of Spain, produced by Bodegas Sierra Cantabria under the direction of the Eguren family. This 750ml bottle is crafted from 100% Tempranillo sourced from the Finca El Bosque vineyard in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, planted in 1973 on approximately 1.5 hectares of deep gravel ("cascajo") soils adjacent to the Ebro River. The southeast-facing slope sits at 500 meters above sea level, sheltered from cold northern winds by the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range.

The wine is fermented in oak vats following cold maceration, then aged for 18 months in predominantly new French oak barrels. The result is a dense, structured red wine offering aromas of ripe dark fruits — blackberry, black cherry, plum, and cassis — alongside notes of dark chocolate, graphite, smoked tobacco, anise, and subtle minerality. On the palate it delivers a velvety texture, silky tannins, and well-integrated acidity with a long, powerful finish. Due to its structure, the wine typically benefits from cellaring several years before peak drinking.

The wine consistently earns outstanding critical scores across multiple vintages, with recent releases receiving 95–97 points from publications including Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Enthusiast, Vinous, and Wine Spectator. Production is extremely limited, typically around 5,000 bottles per vintage.
