Cascina Chicco Barolo Rocche di Castelletto Piedmont 3L

Cascina Chicco Barolo Rocche di Castelletto is a prestigious DOCG red wine from the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, presented in an impressive 3-liter double-magnum format. Produced by Cascina Chicco Azienda Agricola, this wine is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the renowned Rocche di Castelletto vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, a zone particularly celebrated for the exceptional quality of its Nebbiolo da Barolo.

The vineyard sits at southwest and west-facing slopes on clayey-limestone soils that impart characteristic structure and minerality to the wine. Harvest is conducted manually by specialized workers, with each vine harvested twice over a 6 to 10 day interval to ensure optimal ripeness selection. Fermentation takes place over 15 days in small stainless steel tanks with repeated pump-overs, followed by an extended maceration of 40 to 45 days total to extract full tannin and color. The wine then matures in Slavonia oak barrels before resting in stainless steel, with the complete aging cycle spanning approximately four years from harvest before release.

On the nose, the wine offers an elegant and complex bouquet of raspberry, licorice, and spices. The palate is full-bodied and dry with well-integrated sweet tannins and the assertive, food-friendly acidity characteristic of great Barolo. The 3-liter format is ideal for aging and large-format entertaining, as larger bottles age more slowly and gracefully than standard 750ml bottles.
