Château Dallau Bordeaux Supérieur is a classic French red wine produced by Vignobles Bertin, a family that has crafted wine in the Bordeaux region since 1742. The estate, Château Dallau, is situated in the commune of Saint Denis de Pile, just southwest of Lalande-de-Pomerol and Lussac Saint-Emilion, where its 32 hectares of sand and gravel vineyards are planted predominantly with Merlot alongside Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with vines averaging 20 years of age.
The wine is a blend of approximately 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested at full maturity and matured in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels (up to 25% in 300-liter second and third-use barrels) for six months. Winemaker Sarah Vital works with consultant Dr. Alain Raynaud to achieve the desired balance of fruit and structure. The result is a deep, inky red wine with aromas of ripe plum and red cherry, a touch of pencil shavings, and a hint of forest floor from the Cabernet Franc. On the palate it is full-bodied with richness from the oak, firm tannins, and a finish of warm spice. ABV is 13.5%.
This wine pairs well with braised beef or venison, roast chicken, and charcuterie. It is suitable for vegetarians, produced using sustainable practices, and sealed with a natural cork. Contains sulphites and egg products.
