Dom Pérignon 'Jean-Michel Basquiat' Special Edition is a prestigious limited-edition collaboration between one of the world's most celebrated Champagne houses and the iconic neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. The bottle features artwork inspired by Basquiat's bold, transformative visual language, making it simultaneously a world-class Champagne and a collectible objet d'art. This release features the acclaimed 2015 vintage, produced in Épernay, France under Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon.
The 2015 Dom Pérignon is a blend of 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from the 17 Grands Crus of the Champagne appellation and the Premier Cru of Hautvillers — the sacred abbey where Dom Pierre Pérignon himself served as Cellar Master beginning in 1668. After no fewer than eight years of elaboration and disgorged in January 2023, this vintage is released at its first Plénitude with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter. The 2015 vintage's aromas span roasted cocoa, lime blossom, jasmine, and peony, with subtle accents of aniseed and cardamom. On the palate, the crispness of orange and green papaya gives way to a soft, full-bodied richness of peach, nectarine, and citrus flavors.
Critics have bestowed exceptional scores on this vintage: 97 Points from James Suckling ("super-complex with chewy tension"), 96 Points from Vinous ("bright and poised with terrific energy"), 95 Points from Wine Advocate (noting its "ethereal profile" and structural delicate austerity), and 95 Points from Wine Spectator. The wine pairs exquisitely with caviar, king crab, and langoustine, as well as pork, lamb, duck, and dishes accented with exotic flavors such as green curry and tropical fruit.
