The Syringa meyeri 'Palibin' Lilac Standard is a dwarf Korean lilac trained as a standard tree — a single straight stem topped with a rounded, lollipop-shaped canopy. Sold here as a 7-gallon specimen, it arrives well established and ready to plant in the garden or a large container.
This compact ornamental tree is prized for its incredible fragrance and prolific spring blooms. Reddish-purple buds open into masses of tiny, tubular lavender-purple flowers in mid-spring, filling the air with classic lilac perfume. Emerging foliage has a burgundy tint that matures to rich green. Unlike traditional lilac shrubs that can grow large and unruly, Palibin stays naturally compact, typically reaching 1.2–1.5m tall and 1.5–2.1m wide at maturity, making it an ideal choice for smaller gardens, patios, and entryways.
It performs best in full sun and is exceptionally cold-hardy, thriving in USDA zones 3–7 (tolerating temperatures as low as -40°C). It works beautifully as a standalone specimen, in a formal garden setting, or as part of an informal hedge. Deadheading after the first bloom flush can encourage a secondary flowering later in the season.
