The Hakushu 25 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a rare and prestigious limited edition expression from Suntory's Hakushu Distillery, established in 1973 in Japan's Southern Alps near Hakushu, Yamanashi Prefecture. Situated at 700 meters elevation in dense highland forest, the distillery draws on pure mountain spring water and cool alpine air to produce a fundamentally lighter, more herbaceous style of single malt than other Japanese whisky distilleries. The name "Hakushu" references the pebbly riverbed near the original distillery site.

At 25 years of age, Hakushu reaches the apex of its standard age-statement range. The distillery's signature forest freshness, green apple, and mint character — present throughout the 12 and 18 Year expressions — have deepened and integrated over a quarter century in mountain warehouses into extraordinary complexity. Deep oak, dried citrus, and concentrated fruit now accompany the characteristic gentle smokiness, all unified into a cohesive and profoundly mature expression. The bottle contains 700ml at the distillery's standard bottling strength.

On the nose, the whisky delivers forest freshness and gentle smoke at 25-year depth, with green apple and mint carried by deep oak and dried citrus. The palate is delicate yet profoundly complex, with Hakushu's herbaceous character fully matured into an integrated expression of forest, oak, fruit, and smoke. The finish is long and distinctively Hakushu, with mountain character and gentle smoke through an extraordinarily extended, clean close.
