Camellia Espalier Assorted Varieties 8.9G / 33.7L

This Costco offering features a pre-trained Camellia Espalier in a large #10 nursery container (8.9 gallon / 33.7 liter), available in assorted varieties. Espalier camellias are grown and pruned to grow flat in a two-dimensional plane, making them ideal for training against walls, fences, or trellises. This ancient horticultural technique transforms these flowering evergreen shrubs into living botanical sculptures that maximize space in smaller gardens.

Camellias are prized for their lush, glossy, dark-green evergreen foliage and their spectacular blooms, which come in shades of white, pink, red, and multicolor depending on the variety. Flowers may be single, semi-double, double, or peony-form. Depending on the species and climate, blooming occurs from fall through early spring, providing vibrant color when much of the garden is dormant. Assorted varieties may include Camellia japonica or Camellia sasanqua types, with sasanqua varieties being especially popular for espalier training due to their faster growth and greater sun tolerance.

These plants thrive in USDA Hardiness Zones 7–9 and prefer partial shade to filtered sun, though sasanqua varieties can tolerate more direct sun with adequate water. Camellias prefer acidic, well-drained, moist soil. They are low-maintenance once established and benefit from regular tying and light pruning after the blooming season to maintain their flat, trained form. A mature espalier camellia adds year-round elegance to walls, fences, and garden borders.
