Sideral Red Blend is a premium Chilean wine from Viña San Pedro, crafted from grapes grown in the Cachapoal Valley, located in Chile's renowned Rapel Valley wine region. The name "Sideral" comes from the Latin word "sideralis" meaning "constellation," representing the perfect harmony of each grape variety in this exceptional blend.
This sophisticated blend is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon (68-73% depending on vintage), complemented by Syrah (17-21%), Cabernet Franc (9%), Petit Verdot (4-5%), and Carmenère (3%). The wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels (20% new) as well as in 2,000-litre casks, developing complex flavors and elegant structure.
On the nose, Sideral offers intense aromas of blackberries, raspberries, plum, black currant, violet, and black licorice, with subtle notes of cocoa and fresh herbs. The palate is fresh and generous, delivering bright red and black fruit flavors, cherry, baked plums, mint, star anise, and fruitcake, complemented by delicate touches of smoke, vanilla, and citrus. The wine features fine, polished tannins and vibrant acidity that keeps it lifted and balanced. The finish is exceptionally long and intense, with notes of black tea, candied orange peel, and a quiet note of wood.
This medium-bodied wine is aromatic and supple with a silky texture and well-integrated 14.7% alcohol. Best served between 15-17°C, Sideral pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasted turkey, barbecue spareribs, and aged cheeses. Professional critics have awarded this wine scores of 93-95 points, praising it as an incredible value that drinks like something twice its price.
